DESCRIPTION:Portland 10 mile  \nIn 1980 three bored sailors stationed at the Royal Naval Air Station came up with the idea of a 10 mile race on Portland\, the cost was 40 pence to enter! \nToday the race has developed into a testing 10 mile route that will see you run a lap and a half around the top of the island\, from one end of the island\, Portland Heights Hotel (385 ft)\, to the other\, Portland Bill (30 ft) \nThe route is undulating\, on tarmac roads and pavements and goes through built up areas as well as following long stretches of coastal roads.

DESCRIPTION:A picturesque race along country lanes through the villages of Hinton St Mary\, Marnhull\, Stalbridge\, Todber\, Stour Row\, Margaret Marsh\, West Orchard\, Farrington\, Child Okeford and Hammoon. \nEntries will be restricted to 400 participants.\nEntrants must be 18 years of age or over on the day of the event.\nDogs\, wheelchairs and baby buggies are not allowed \nDorset County Championship\nThe race has been selected as the Dorset County Championship race for the marathon. County championship eligibility:\n. Born in Dorset\n. Nine months continuous residence in Dorset immediately prior to the date of the race.\n. Nine months service in HM Forces stationed in Dorset immediately prior to the date of the race.\n. No athlete is allowed to compete in the Championships of more than one County in any one nine month period.
